Trying to plan out a competent future.
Not worried about 24/25 more focused on 25/26 and beyond.
Moving Sturm and Rutta seems to be the easiest way to sort out this roster.
Trades are team and value TBD.
The trade for Askarov sets up the future in net and while the cost is high it is worth it as Sharks haven’t been very successful drafting goalies lately.
Lines are subject to chemistry, but if I was a coach I would start Smith and Celebrini on the wing to get use to NHL tempo and if Couture is healthy no one is better suited to mentor our future than him.
Without Bordeleau Gushchin and Musty will be fighting Kostin and Grunderson for 3LW spot. I see Gushchin getting the nod.
Next year Celebrini and Smith are our 1-2 centers
Askarov will back up a vet netminder we bring in (or one of Blackwood/Vanicek if they perform well)
Draft a future #1 RD in Hensler or Tretheway, and sign or trade for a top 4 RD in the off-season.
Sharks will be better in 24/25 but still bottom 5 and 25/26 sharks should start looking better and their future brighter!
